Sunflower, originally launched in 1974 and designed by Göran Wärff, is an iconic series of lanterns from Kosta Boda. Sunflower is one of the foremost examples of how Wärff drew inspiration from nature and the natural play of light, a theme he transformed into some of the true classics of modern glass craftsmanship. Sunflower is part of Kosta Boda's re-release catalogue, in which selected objects from our archives are given new life and made available to a new audience. The small 180 mm lantern is beautiful on its own, but becomes even more striking together with the two other sizes, forming a lovely group that creates a lively and vibrant light display. This circular lantern is made from residual glass from our own production in Kosta, Sweden. The availability of cullet varies depending on the season's production at Kosta Glasbruk. Our glassblowers sort the glass by colour tone before it is recycled and given new life in the lantern. Through the colour sorting and the unique production process, each Sunflower gets its own colour DNA. This means the shade may vary between different circular Sunflowers within the same series and collection. Unique, characterful and sustainable.
